We got these after our 3rd $3,000 leak, that would have been cut short if we'd been alerted in the middle of the night. Instead, we's wake up to the downstairs ceiling sagging dripping, requiring ceiling and floor damage mitigation. We've also had to mitigate mold under the kitchen sink when something's decided to drip for months more than once.There are more elaborate and effective solutions, but this one is cheap & simple and gets the job done.As with any battery powered devices, be prepared to change the batteries. We have about 10 of these scattered under every sink, behind every toilet, and at the water heater. So far in the last 3 years it's saved us from 3 expensive mold causing leaks, 2 of them under the kitchen sink, another a leaky drain in a bathroom.Only downside, if you don't change the batteries on a schedule, then be prepared to be alerted at 3AM some day.Also, they aren't very loud considering that they're buried in the back of a cabinet, behind lots of junk. We always do hear it, but it's not piercing.
